Board of Directors
William D. Bridgers
Mr. Bridgers is a General Partner and founding member of Zon Capital Partners.
Mr. Bridgers has more than 20 years of diversified management and investment
experience in information technology and related services. Zon Capital is a
private equity fund located in Princeton, New Jersey that selects and manages
investments in early expansion information technology companies. Mr. Bridgers
serves on the Board of Directors of Archive Systems, Data Impact and
Business Intelligence International.
Prior to the formation of Zon Capital, Mr. Bridgers was a partner and founder
of Zon Partners, an early stage investment and M&A advisory company, and the
predecessor to the Fund. Together with Don Perkins, he was responsible for venture
transactions that resulted in several liquidity events for the firm’s investors.
Mr. Bridgers also helped start Technology Management & Funding in Princeton,
New Jersey, an early stage investment company. He was the firm’s
Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Bridgers previously served with three
international consulting firms, PA Consulting Services of London,
England, A.T. Kearney based in Chicago, Illinois and Kline and Company of
Fairfield, New Jersey. Over the course of his consulting career, most of
Bill’s consulting clients were telecommunications companies, technology
vendors or large users of information technology systems.
Mr. Bridgers holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Donald A. Mattes, Chairman
Mr. Mattes is the retired CEO of Andover Controls Limited where
he was responsible for all of the European operations. Under his
direction, sales increased two and a half times and operating profit
by eighteen percentage points during an eight year period in a
nearly stagnant market. Mr. Mattes, a founder of Andover Controls,
began as Senior Vice President responsible for product development
and a Director as the company grew and completed an Initial Public
Offering six years later.
Following his graduation from the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (MIT) with B.S and M.S. degrees in electrical
engineering, Mr. Mattes entered the aerospace industry where he was
responsible for the design and project management of components and
subsystems for satellites, most notably the attitude control computer
for the original GPS satellites. Mr. Mattes was also President of
Savant Instruments, a manufacturer of laboratory equipment where
sales and profits tripled in four years. Following Savant’s
acquisition by Life Sciences International, he led the acquisition
and successful turn-around of International Equipment Company, a
manufacturer of laboratory and clinical centrifuges.
H. Don Perkins
Mr. Perkins is a Managing Partner and founding member of
Zon Capital Partners. Mr. Perkins began his career more than twenty
years ago with a primary focus on management consulting and general
management in large worldwide enterprises. He has been in the private
equity field over ten years. Prior to joining Zon Capital, Mr. Perkins
was a partner and founder of Zon Partners an early stage investment
and consulting company and the predecessor to the Fund. Zon Partners
was responsible for venture transactions that resulted in several
liquidity events for the firm's investors.
Mr. Perkins began his
career with McKinsey and Company in Pittsburgh and London. Later
he joined GE where he led Corporate Business Development team focusing
on Mergers and Acquisitions activities before moving to the position
of General Manager of Sales & Marketing with GE Silicones. Mr. Perkins
then joined AlliedSignal and headed Business Development as a Vice
President in their Automotive Sector, where he led a merger to create
a $1 Billion European automotive aftermarket parts business.
Mr. Perkins sits on the boards of Avo Photonics, Beta Zone
and DFT Microsystems and holds a B.S. in
Chemical Engineering from Clarkson and earned his MBA at the Wharton School.
Thomas H. Witmer
Mr. Witmer was president and CEO of Medrad, Inc. from 1982 to 1998.
Mr. Witmer oversaw the growth of Medrad from under $10 million to over
$120 million per year. Prior to Medrad, Mr. Witmer was President and
CEO of Union Carbide Imaging Systems, Inc. and Vice President and
General Manager of Clinical Diagnostics, Medical Products Division,
Union Carbide Corporation. Mr. Witmer is a member of the Board of
Directors of Mine Safety Appliances, Inc. of Pittsburgh, Pa. and of
Instrument Specialties Company, Inc. of Delaware Water Gap, Pa.
