Dramatic growth is forecast for the commercial use of
Infrared imagers. We believe that the already significant growth rate
will be enhanced by the availability of low cost imagers.
Initially, five vertical markets will be targeted:
- Security & Surveillance systems use IR Imagers for improved intrusion
or suspect detection at night or in fog and rain. They minimize false alarms,
help provide officer protection, and reduce energy costs by eliminating the
need for lighting.
- Driver Vision Enhancement - Infrared images can assist vehicle drivers to avoid hazards by enabling
them to see five times further at night when compared to headlights,
or through rain and fog.
- Firefighting - Fire fighters use IR Imagers to safely enter and exit
smoke-filled buildings and to locate victims and fire sources.
- Military Commercial - Military applications use commercial off the shelf IR Imagers for
perimeter security; expendables; shipboard awareness and other
applications where performance is not as important as cost.
- Industrial - Innovative
applications exist for thermal inspection; process control;
predictive maintenance; remote temperature monitoring; R&D;
food monitoring, storage and preparation; leak detection and
non-destructive testing.
Other - Markets such as retail applications use IR Imagers for people counting; queue
control and other areas to understand more about consumer
behavior and interest.
